The North Curry Environment Group

  • seeks ways to enable people to lower their carbon footprint and thereby lead more sustainable lives in tune with nature.
  • tries to find as many ways as possible to improve the environment and biodiversity.
  • promotes and supports nature restoration in our village to help wildlife thrive.
  • plants trees
  • helps to maintain the Community Woodland at North Curry’s White Street Sports Ground
  • shares interesting wildlife sightings at the Community Woodland and other areas around the village
  • promotes renewable energy to help fight climate change
  • makes apple juice from some of the surplus fruit in the area; this is sold under the Fruits of Athelney label in North Curry Post Office & Stores, in Stoke St Gregory Village Shop and through the North Curry Community Coffee Shop
  • hires out the equipment to anyone who wishes to make their own juice
  • organises apple pressing days for people with fewer apples to come together
